Title: How's Moduran shaping up
Post by: ABU on October 15, 2011, 08:52:14 PM
Heading back to Monduran next month for another week of Barra bashing, hopefully it'll be better than last year, we were there for 5 days and never had a touch. water was quite cold and got colder the longer we stayed.
Has anyone heard how its firing.
Cheers

Fishing continues to be tough  ........ 2 big comps & 8 fish landed  -  those 8 fish were all 60cm ish class fish
There have been a few big encounters ..... but non landed that I know of .......... :'(  - It's not the place that it was was  :thumbdown .    This time of year would traditionally yield plenty of fish   -  but like 2010  it is well over par!

I got to the dam yesterday arvo in time to set up & have a chat with a few guys around the camp kitchen. Of the three different groups I spoke with no one had caught anything bar a few catfish. Some of these guys had been here a week.
I went out this morning & fished some weed beds up in the Kolan River above the junction of all the arms, think I got one tap.
Am planning on taking the kayak down to the Burnett River tomorrow, Foxy gave me some spots to try for a few Bass. Also the Westpak ATM swallowed my card & now I have no money, nice girl from the Commonwealth is sorting me a new one & sending it to my next stop. She was keen on fishing & would have liked to join me on my trip, shame she was in Tassie. :OffTopic)

Cheers Andrew

Hi ABU I fished Monduran from the 1st Nov 5th Nov, weather fine, light winds, sunny. I fished mainly B, North and South arms. Plenty of weed beds to cast to and along. I fished from daylight to dark, plenty of bait fish,I have never seen so many Gar fish. I was casting 5,6 inch hollow bellies with trout rattles in the tails, and managed only one Barra at 65cm. I also used 4 inch shallow Nils Masters,B52 long A in gold, Predatek shallow divers, with no results. All in all a plesant trip, not to many people to worry about and excellent weather. The water clarity was excellent but a bit cold, the hottest water I could find was 80 degrees. I purchased a Minn Kota Ipilot and this was the first time I had used it, what a fantastic bit of equipment, at last look Mum no hands, Hope this helps you out. Brian

ABU,
Same story here, we've been at Monduran for the last 4 days and only scored one fish (44cm)......like most people we heard reports things were picking up but it's still slooooooow.....weather is perfect, water temps 27-29deg, heaps of weed beds & baitfish but very few Barra, off to I this arvo so wish us luck  :youbeauty

Hi Guys,
Went to Monduran for the week, home yesterday with a nil result. Spent approx 74 hours on the water during the trip, throwing everything at the weeds and timber that I had in the tackle box. Pretty dissapointed with the dam, we had 3 boats on the water and all with the same result. Maybe next year will target a few bass dams.
Cheers
Paul

We pulled the pin at last moment and rather than do our deposit have a credit for a booking same time next year.
Went to Glenlyon instead and had a ball with the yellas.
 Cheers
