New Fishing Platform A Boost For Durham Ox - Vic Fisheries

A new fishing platform and associated facilities on the Serpentine Creek at Durham Ox is improving fishing opportunities for recreational fishers of all abilities. $19,500 of funding for this project has come from the Recreational Fishing Grants Program.

It is an initiative of the Loddonvale Landcare Group and includes the fishing platform, associated fencing, an information shelter, signage and bollards.

Loddonvale Landcare has committed considerable time and money to the project including working bees to prepare the site and clean up after construction was completed.

The fishing platform caters for anglers of all abilities and is a great example of a small community working together with assistance from government to improve local opportunities for recreational fishing.

The Loddonvale Landcare Group is congratulated for their initiative and hard work in ensuring this project has been such a success.

The North Central Catchment Management Authority contributed $1,000 to this project for revegetation works with indigenous riparian species.

The Victorian Government is committed to supporting recreational fishing and rural communities by allocating funds generated from the sale of recreational fishing licences for projects such as this fishing platform.

Since it began in 2001, the Recreational Fishing Grants Program has funded more than 450 projects worth throughout Victoria more than $19.3 million.
