Title: Lake Somerset - recreation access notice
Post by: Editor on December 30, 2014, 11:57:20 PM
Lake Somerset - swimming area at The Spit closed 30 December 2014
DATE: 30/12/2014
The swimming area at The Spit recreation area is temporarily closed due to blue-green algae.

The swimming area at the Lake Somerset Holiday Park (off Kirkleagh Road) remains open.

Lake Somerset remains open to paddle craft and boating, including water skiing, jet skiing and fishing.

The temporary closure at The Spit has been made in the interests of public safety. Recent water quality results indicate there is a high level of blue-green algae at the swimming area. For more information, please read our blue-green algae fact sheet. (http://www.seqwater.com.au/sites/default/files/PDF%20Documents/Recreation/Blue-green%20algae%20fact%20sheet%20Oct2011.pdf)

Signage has been erected to advise visitors of the closure.

Seqwater will continue to monitor the water quality in Lake Somerset, and will provide updates as conditions change.Sorry, only registered users can see this content. Please Login or Register.
