yak barra. kinchant dam
« on: December 28, 2012, 09:02:07 PM »
A mate and my self headed north after christmas to get his first barra and since id just bought a tarpon 120 and his family had a prowler 13 we decided on doin it on our yaks for a bit more fun. After the drive from brissy we set up camp at kinchant waters camp ground and for they next two days staked the weed beds. After landing two barra my self and my mate still at nil i took the hooks off one of my popers and teased up fish so he could cast is weedless offering at a fired up barra. Wich had instant results and i also still got the rush of the take and a few aeiral displays. Getting one barra to the leader with no hooks . The total was4 landed aprox 15 strikes and 20ish spotted. only fishing the morrning and arvo bite period.

Nice work from the kayaks fellas. Much traffic on the water there?

Some great fish there!. How much did they tow you around?

I've had a 70cm cattie tow me through the mangroves on my yak, I reckon those bad boys would have given you a good trip!

Yer they gave us a bit of a tow but most just burried themselves in the weeds ,we were fishing where no boat could get to cause the weed was so thick  and was just a matter of digging them out. in open water it would be different story im sure .
