Gave the Bremer another go this afternoon, launching from the Albion Street bridge at Brassall.
http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=brassall&hl=en&ll=-27.602871,152.744256&spn=0.002458,0.004989&sll=-25.335448,135.745076&sspn=40.408835,81.738281&hnear=Brassall+Queensland&t=h&z=18

There is a steep concrete path that goes down beneath the bridge. A drop of about 1 metre down to a sandy bank is all that is in front of you for launching a canoe or yak.

Some pics of the scenery in the area.

In the hour and a half I fished there, landed 9 Bass. One fell to a spinnerbait, all the rest were caught on a Gara Tarki in purple and black. Largest went 54cm.

Cheers,
Dave.

Nice, that's a good size little brute!
I think there is a lot of exploring for me to do around these parts...  :youbeauty

I had a purple and black Dambuster and a purple Stumpjumper in the tackle box and didn't try either of them  ::)
I stuck to lighter colours when the water was so clear.

Any tips ?
As I said earlier, we're new to fishing this sort of area  :))

Most of those came from downstream of the bridge(I didn't venture past the next bend).

There are not a lot of snags in there, but where there is a log or stick in the water, there was a fish. I was hoping to get some bycatch with the bass eg. Bream or flathead.

The gold spinnerbait that worked well yesterday , only accounted for the one bass. Half way through the session( I launched around 4.30pm) I switched over to the Gara( timber hard body). All the fish came from snags with the lure almost hitting the timber. As these lures float very well, pausing not long after starting the retrieve seems to get the fishes' interest.

If I had stayed out into the dark the surface gear may have got a run but there was a lamb roast in the oven at home :)

Submerged TV sets and 4x4's really sounds like someone is trying out something different in artificial reefs. Probably be the odd shopping trolly too? JUst goes to show where Bass will hang out. Hardy little buggers.

Funny you should mention a trolley... There is one along the way,  half out of the water!
