Title: Copeton Gorge
Post by: Stutz on February 17, 2015, 11:59:44 PM
Hey all,

I am heading back down to Copeton Dam at Easter for 5 days of hopefully trolling up some decent Cod out of the dam at night.

But have been doing a lot of gorge country fishing in other places and am really interested to venture into the gorges above copeton dam.

Might be a bit of a long shot, but does anyone have any info on getting into the gorges up that way? I've been searching google for awhile now and not much comes up, I did find a report from someone mentioning a 4wd track in.

Not looking for exact spots or that. More just wanting to know if it is possible to get in there?

Oh thanks sweetwater, I've found a couple of tracks on Google maps that go down into the gorge on the southern side. Might have to spend a day down there exploring.

I'm guessing below the wall in the gorges would be much the same?

doesn't get hit as hard due to the extreme nature of the tracks went in there  20years ago with my uncle
its worth checking the dam flow prior to heading down if a lot of water is being released it often shuts the fish down because of the cold temps
good luck
