A few months ago I caught a tagged bass that had traveled 130klm from the brissy river,out in the ocean, traveled north, into north pine, into south pine and up to eatons crossing.It was tagged 16/4/2005 at 24.5cm. When I caught it on25/3/2011 it was 32cm.
Today I received a cert to say a bass I tagged in north pine dam on22/5/2010 at 41cm had been caught in the brissy river on 21/3/2012 at 42cm having traveled 90klm over dam wall, down nort pine river,out in the ocean,traveled south, then up the brissy river.
They sure enjoy a bit of a swim

Great bit of info Dino it is interesting to hear of fish travelling both south and north of their original positions. I wonder how the floods influence their movements and whether they return to their original haunts or search out cleaner water. Cheers Pat.

There was one other that came from the Brisbane river to the south pine river around the same time.

Interesting thread, for some reason have never thought of bass wandering about in the ocean and travelling to that extent.

Yellas dont seem to travel to well when washed down into the salt. Some of the ones that escaped over the wall at north pine dam went down the north pine river then up the south pine river, this was withthe aid of the fresh water, they then moved a long way up the river to get away from the salt. Some were picked up out in the ocean, but they would not of lasted long.
