The last few trips.
« on: May 15, 2013, 04:59:55 PM »
G'day guys, may as well introduce myself with a report from the last few trips.
Mainly fishing the semi tidal reaches of the Pine and Brissie and doing ok, Bass to 49cm and a couple a Yellas up the Pine and Bass to 52cm up the Brissie. All the fish are coming from on or near the bottom on vibes and spinnerbaits but they take some finding, usually schooled up in one small area so persistence is a must as is a sounder as a lot has changed since before xmas.
The Brissie fish are hanging in midwater structures with only a few fish coming from open water, the Pine fish are moving up on the bigger night tides and are sitting in holes adjacent to natural barrages during the day and moving up at night (where I fish).
Also did my first trip to Ewan a couple a weeks ago for a doz Bass and a couple a Talapia, nothing big but then I was a bit reluctant to throw my lures up into the reads with only 6lb braid, lesson learnt though.
Keen to have a shot up near Wivenhoe on Friday (never fished it) but after reading your reports I reckon I'll give Harpeng Rd a miss, might have a look at Shines but if that's to hard basket stuff will wait till Sept (the canoe access at the lookout is opening in early June) but not sure what that's like either and don't like having to be off the water and outta there by 6pm (love my night fishing) Might even bite the bullet and try and run up from Lowood on the electric????
I wont be fishing the fresh over the closed season and will stick to the estuaries, If ya's are interested my reports are on FaceBook, I'm not on any other forums.
Cheers
Steve.
