Just wondering if anyone else out there is as cheap as I am and reverses the line they have on their reels. Since the braid at the bottom of the spool tends to be in great nick I just run it off to two different spools and then back on the reel again.
Cheap I know but save some bucks :P

Used to do it all the time. Spool totally with braid, when it gets down a bit I add backing material to bring it back to the level I like, then turn it over using a couple of reels as you mention.
These days I generally just spool with new braid, got enough 1500m spools in the shed to last me quite a while thanks to the high Oz Dollar!

I do it all the time, why waste good braid that rarely sees any water....

Not cheap mate just smart. I tend to cut off the first 20 feet or so if it has "feathered" a bit like Fireline does but then again I've probably had it on the reel for too long anyway - cheap assed maybe but I have never had braid fail yet. Pat.

I reckon you're doing the right thing mate, I've done it myself plenty of times, but only when the braid gets a bit feathery looking. Loss of colour is not a problem, I've got a couple of reels with braid that look white! Nothing wrong with it though.
