first trip to wuruma
didn't get on the water til 7;30am
had the first little yella in the boat by 7:45am
the very next cast i was on  but i was using my bass gear so the 8lb line peeled from the reel like i had hooked a train the 12lb leader was worrying me with all the timber in this really nice little bay 8:15 we had the Barra next to the boat after a few near misses the barra was in the boat. the barra was taken on a tn70 jackell

we haeded to the next little patch of timber where dad was on after trying to cast next to a big water dragon lizard
this barra hit just as the lure hit the water only inches from the bank .
dad was using 40lb braid and this was his first fresh water barra so he had it next to the boat in about 30sec it was very green and very active but luckily it jumped in to the net as soon as it hit the water .
this barra was taken on a green and gold nils master
the morning started to get on and the barra shut down from around 10am still got some hits but nothing like the earily morning

stopped for lunch  then back on the water
some hits from 1 to 3pm
at around 3:30 pm fezza got a huge yella it went over 5lb
it was taken on a tn70 jackell
it wasn't long after that and fezza was on again his braid was peeling off then a monster broke the surface for a huge jump it shot the lure right over our heads
after a few tears from fezza we fished on til dark  but no more barra
so we headed home

Dad had the fresh water bug so he was keen to go back and try to better his barra so off we went into the rain
Left the ramp at 4:00pm
headed up to the first lot of wind blown bays wet temp was pretty cool and it was a bit wet.
But we were all keen .
we casted lures for around hour and all was going pretty well
around 5pm  the old boy loaded his rod  ready for a long cast to a really nice looking bit of timber . when CRACK lure to the back of my head.
yep dad had pulled his b52 with very sharp extra strong vmc hooks into the back of my head .
after a few attempts trying to cut the hook we gave up and cut the eye of the b52 not happy about wrecking a nice lure .
so with a hook hanging out of my head we
Decided to not waste the trip we fished til dark
But no BARRA but just enough hits to keep us going
Drove back to Bilo hospital went in at 9:45pm
The nurses soon made me the joke of the hospital saying that they only see things like this on TV .
they gave me a free hair cut then they got to work on getting this hook out
Even the doctor had a laugh while sticking me with a needle.
After couple of cuts with the knife out pulled the hook
out of the hospital by 10;55pm
so i don't know what the bestest thing caught in wuruma is
but i think you will have to do pretty well to bet 118kg 190cm

Awesome trip, one that you'll never forget for a couple of reasons. Great looking catch by the way.

Personally I think the hair cut suits you. ;D Glad to see you don't do things in halves. :youbeauty

I take it that a few cans were had for the pain?

Make sure that lure makes it to the bar at home next to one of those piccy's!

Thanks for sharing!

Cheers Dave

Nice fish mate looks like a good spot.
I feel your pain with the fish hooks I copped one in the foot a couple of weeks ago not quite as bad as your effort though.
I was miles from nowhere so I had to do the job myself.  :thumbsup

Cheers

Good to see you didn't let a little thing like a treble in the scone interfere with the fishing...  :o

Great report & good to see Wuruma Dam starting to produce again.  :thumbsup

How much do the hospital charge for haircuts? Is it a sideline for them comsidering the health dept woes at the moment? More fishos might drop in for a short back & sides.  ;D

fitz..
