Title: Vic estuary perch stocking going well
Post by: Slates on June 06, 2015, 10:08:59 AM
Good news for those anglers keen on estuary perch! Recent fish surveys by DEPI have revealed Victoria’s stocked estuary perch fisheries have developed well with some fish now above the legal minimum size of 27cm and available to catch. Stocked waters have included lakes Hamilton, Beaufort, Struan, Albert Park, Karkarook, Bolac and Pertobe, the Werribee River, and Melton and Devilbend reservoirs. Lake Bolac boasted the biggest estuary perch that measured 28.3cm and weighed 486 grams, most likely from the lake’s first stocking of 7,000 fingerlings in January 2012. Since then, the lake has been stocked with nearly 43,000 estuary perch fingerlings.
