Doubt it, sounds like someone just putting themself into a dangerous situation over something silly like a ball with a really bad outcome for all.

A tragedy. If it wasn't a bull shark that got him I hope they don't home in on him over night. There's thousand of them in the area.

Got to feel for all of his friends that witnessed it, not to mention his girl friend.

could've been a few things ,I doubt it was a shark but you couldn't rule that possibility out as there are some big bull sharks out there at times.A guy disappeared in a similar fashion at the junction many years ago after jumping in the river during a police chase

Update: Located missing man, Brisbane River at Karana Downs

October 21, 2014 at 12:12 pm

Police have located the body of a 21-year-old man who had entered the Brisbane River from Kookaburra Park.

Just after 11am Queensland Water Police officers located the body about one nautical mile toward Colleges Crossing from where he went missing.

Investigations are continuing into this incident and police will be preparing a report for the coroner.

I was surprised to hear that they found the body upstream from where he went missing. I just assumed that it would go downstream. Did anyone else think this? I was actually going to go sharking at Kooka that afternoon and it was low tide at 4pm and he went missing at 2pm so a couple of hours run out tide. Maybe he was pushed up stream on the run in and then got caught on something preventing him from washing back downstream?

Just threw me for six when they said he was found upstream, really didn't expect it.

Condolences to the family, tragic way of dying.

One report I heard said he was found 1 km towards Colleges Crossing and another said he was found 1 km downstream.  Not sure which is correct.
