Hi Ben

Not positive as it was a couple of years ago that I was there, but I am pretty sure their was a no camping & no pets sign, & I'm pretty sure it is a kayak & canoe only dam. No lead sinkers either.
Sorry if that has thrown a spanner in your works. Not far down the range to the salty stuff, there are a number of ramps from Caloundra down Pummicestone Passage to Bribie. Maybe Bracey might be able to shed some light on other areas if you are chasing Bass.

Cheers Andrew

not sure on the dogs, there is no mention of Baroon being dog unfriendly, but check with the ranger or council.

I think this is a real shame ...truly.  There is only one dam I know of that is dog friendly ( Storm king ) . The problem is that you can't camp there.
My dog just loves to swim, so much so that i can't keep him on the yak. The other one just loves the yak but can't swim. Go figure??

Any way I have taken both of them in the Gold Coast canals and just frankly I wouldn't care to again.Doggy loving toothy creatures inhabit those waters.

Maybe others know of "dog friendly" camping and swimming dams around.

Perhaps this could be another destination topic ?

My family are my spouse and dogs which kinda restricts us a bit.
The dozen or so nephews and nieces can all fend for themselves now. Luv 'em all but.

Electric boats are allowed on Baroon, must have petrol motor off.

I dont know about the dogs, One would assume it now comes under SEQ water's stewardship, and generally they dont allow dogs at their dams.

No other water up there suitable for a boat. Closest probably Ewen Maddock down the range, but its definitely no dogs, no powered boats (row/ paddle / peddle only).

If you like taking your hound, better off with the rivers or salt water, dont like the sharks, there are a couple of river camping spots around that might suite, but you would have to check, Petrie Park at Tiaro comes to mind as a possible. Certainly seen dogs there.

Other stipulations on Electric powered boats are that the battery must be a sealed unit.  It must be fitted to the boat so that in the event of an inversion of the vessel the battery must not fall out.  No lead sinkers, (Not sure about Spinnerbait heads though)
