The new Old Town Discovery 119 is just about to land in Australia.
This model replaces the Old Town Pack Angler. The Pack was made from Royalex maetial and retailed for around $1700 until the price of royalex went up by 40%. The new Discovery is made from the Poly Link 3 material that is used in other Old Town canoes like the Guide and Penobscot. This construction material is lighter, stiffer and stronger than normal single layer plastic canoes/kayaks so is a happy medium between the cost and quality.
The price on the new Discovery is much less than the Pack Angler, and the much lower price point alone should see this single person canoe be more popular than the Pack ever was.
