Cam corders
« on: April 03, 2013, 02:15:07 PM »
I'm looking at buying a video camera soon, probably a Go Pro. What I need to know is whether it's worth going the extra bucks for the Hero 3 model or would I be just as well off for fishing video getting the white model. I know there is a difference in mega pixel count between them but as I mainly plan to use it for video, I don't think it would matter. Where are ya Fishbrain??

fishing is not essential to life, it's much more important

the white has 180degree vision while the black dose not have the greatest fish eye although it has much better imaging
i would proberly go with a contour because there just as resistant as gopro's, they are cheaper, 180 degree vision and great imaging

Go Pros take good video, but when in the waterproof case the audio is totally hopeless. Using the non-water proof case the audio is still poor, if barely passable.

I've gone back to using a standard HD camcorder I picked up new for under $300. I mount it on a boom I can swing out and around.  If it gets wet, I will have to toss it, but the video / audio is far far better.

I have a cheapy, Gear2Go is the brand, it us a little orange cam, similar size to go pro, with waterproof case, audio sucks. But without it, audio is great. And for about 50 bux when it was on special, its pretty good. Image quality is ok, but again, for price it is good. Hete is a tuna vid I took at easter time.

I think they should be banned.  I know a fisherman who was able to film all my favourite snags and put it out for everyone to study.

Nothing is safe anymore.  I expect to see Drones next.  I keep my eyes peeled for them when I go fishing these days.

May have to invest in one of those Camo outfits they sell at Cabelas.

THat's a bit like the guide I spoke to once who found one of his clients was using a pocket GPS to record all the spots they fished. Not sure whether the GPS made it back to home base. The only drones are those without morality.
