Title: Lake Conobalas Report
Post by: Sweetwater on January 21, 2011, 05:39:20 AM
Was passing through Orange a couple of days ago & had a quick fish from the kayak at Lake Conobalas.
It is a pretty little dam just outside of town with very good shoreline access, parks, shelter sheds and pontoons. No motors allowed and no boat ramp to speak of but you can drive right to the waters edge, a perfect kayak fishing destination.

We didn't manage to catch anything but a few guys in a tinny trolling hard bodies trolled up some small trout & a fellow casting spinners from the bank did the same.

There's alot of weed around the edges which makes it hard to fish, I'm told there's redfin getting caught on jigs in the deeper water & there's a few big cod & yellowbelly that get caught along the old creekbed; a fish finder is needed to work out where it goes.

In all, a very enjoyable quick session watching the sun go down on a pretty little lake.

Will post some pics when I get time to download.
