Title: Swamp Troutin'
Post by: bushwacker on July 30, 2013, 06:35:21 PM
Went for a squiz with the brother today at a favourite bass creek to remove a few carp.
Nabbed one right at my feet on a bead head pheasant tail nymph but after that I couldn't see the takes for rain on the surface and sight casting became impossible.

Took some flicks with the brothers new 600D ....All good except the memory card was still in the bag....

Well not much of a fishing report but hey everyone else is slipping !  :P

 :thumbsup

The mud marlin wasn't huge maybe 55cm but certainly fat and the others followed with intent ,,, maybe if I had a normal non bead head nymph they would have just inhaled it on the slow sink for a blind take...

The flu is going around a bit

Onya carp killer, very sporting though to use a fly outfit. I'd have gone for the sweetcorn bits.

I miss the carpbusters they used to run at Beauy. Only did it once, but had a blast. When I first moved to QLD I lived in Jimboomba and had access to a property out at Kerry, used to regularly hit the river there and knock a few carp on the head..and get a few bass doing it ;)

Shame it went down the gurgler, think it was due to insurance..@%# money grabbers.

Plenty of Saltwater Carp in the rustwater too guys. Can catch em on fly need some specialist patterns though. Mr. Hanky, The Cuban and Wigglin Winston are the go to flies.
