Yes, hooked up on a 70cm bullshark well up the Richmond at Tatham the other day. Cast at a swirl in the water and next thing it's all hands on deck. 15lb leader does not have the same tensile strength as wire. Found that out.

Would dusk be the best time to target bull sharks??? If not then what should i look for in the weather stats??
Cheers Brad.

Warm muggy weather suppose to help

I don't think they care a lot, we got hit in the late morning with high sun directly on the water. These sharks often come well up into fresh water for 2 main reasons; one is to chase food and there were lots of gar about. Two they often need to get rid of parasites that will drop off them in fresh water. In our area of the Richmond sytem they have been seen right up near Lismore in the the Wilson. I know I'd never swim there.

Dawn and dusk best times for them, live bait is definitely best, my preference is bream, should be easy enough for you to net some, or catch a smaller cattie, send him back out with a pair of hooks in his back.

I lost two sharks down at Wolfdene this arvo, 3.10pm.
I used a 6/0 hook, live poddy mullet and 100 lb jinkai leader,, clean cut took the hook.
Now I'm rigged up with 7766D 9/0 hook crimped to 175lb multistrand stainless wire. This time it wont get away so easily unless its a much bigger shark.
The rig is experimental as I don't normally rig wire so I'll see what happens Thursday, will keep you posted. Bondy

Got it tied to a good strainer post too?
-
Yep, sure did,
It did not get away this time.
Caught one shark at 4.10pm on Thursday 8th, and lost another as the line broke above the swivel, Will try again next week.

I believe the bull sharks coming into the fresh water are females that enter the fresh to pup. These pups will remain in the fresh water system until old enough to head back to salt. Even then they will travel back and forth from salt to fresh until old enough to stay in open waters.

Bull sharks about 4 ft make great eating.
