Heart Attack Hill-Brisbane River
« on: April 07, 2013, 11:07:32 AM »
A small group of us fished from Shines Rd on Saturday arvo. The Australia day flood has remodelled the access to the river to make life even harder for those wishing to launch yaks.

As well as the staircase entry missing, there are new mid river snags :) and the old snags at the junction of Lockyer creek and the Brisbane river have goooone.

I suppose it was no surprise how things have changed considering the speed and viscosity of the flow which came out of Lockyer during the flood.

The water clarity is still very poor. Had a couple of hits on a blade but all my Bass came on spinnerbaits. No cricket scores yet but enough to keep you  entertained. Plenty of forkies are available for those using rattling lures.

Cheers,
Dave.

Thanks Dave. Good to see those Wivenhoe bass made it through the gates again.

Have you had a look at Hollywood yet?

Not as yet. I haven't had as much time this year for fishing , and the time I have had I have spent chasing murrays over on the border. I need to get re-aquainted with my local. Russell's sticks appear as they have been removed from the floods this year too, its a totally different river down there now.

I wonder how much of the log jam downstream from Harpeng got displaced too, I really need to go and investigate. I'm working night shift this month, maybe I can squeeze a morning sesh in sometime.
