Any word on how Fairbairns shaping up,
Has anyone on the forum had any luck there apart from the red claw fishing

Sorry ABU, I drove over it this morning but have not heard how its fishing, bloody big dam.

I dont think it has ever done well as a fishing dam.

Talking to a mate in Emerald yesterday, he hasn't bothered to go out there this summer, he has heard no decent catch reports at all.

Has the dam ever fished good.
Would the quantity of redclaw as a food source for the fish effect the fishing ie to much food in the water, so why bother chasing lures

takes a long time to clear after a big fill.
Stocked with barra ans cod.
The low water and harsh winter of 08 saw a barra kill that accounted for fish to 1.5m.
The cod have established a breeding population but numbers are nowhere near those in the granite belt dams.
Travelling to the top end back in the 1980s I struck things just right. Four fish in an arvo session and three the next morning.
Average about 6kgs with one just shyy of 20pounds.
Yellowbelly naturally occurring and various grunters.
The big issue is striking the lake sufficiently clear for lures.
