Title: When ya got an itch, ya gotta scratch it!
Post by: Bracey on March 30, 2011, 05:04:01 PM
Still suffering from the sleepless nights of Boyne River dreaming from my quick trip north and the weather being reasonably good on the coast in the past couple of weeks, the rivers and creeks looked like they had slightly cleared up. I had an itch to get down to one of my local haunts to see if the Bass were chewing before this weeks rain events. It had been almost 2 months since I have had the chance to revisit this area.

Sunday arvo in the rain I thought it was now or never knowing with every drop that fell from the sky would turn the water back to a coffee colour, so without further procrastination, I went to see if I could get some more surface action. On arrival and paddling downsrtream I noticed new areas had been created and old ones destroyed. For about one and a half hours I flicked lures for no result, just one follow and decided to head back upstream, past where I launched and found a favourite hole still in tact after the summer floods that SE Queensland experienced.

As the sun was setting and the afternoon faded quickly from the damp conditions I pulled five nice Bass from this one hole before they shut down. They all varied in length, the biggest being 45cm long and had a great time scrathing my itch.

Cheers Dave

I think you scratched that itch well Dave!
Great to see you were able to put in a return visit to a old spot and found some willing bass before this woeful weather descended upon us again. ::)
Good luck this weekend too!

Cheers.

Nice One Dave

Good to see you have caught some bass in some dirty water and I must say it is encouraging to see that you got a bite in these conditions. The kayak club has a trip this weekend into some mountain streams and yet again the weather has turned to cr@p the week leading into it.

I'd be happy with that 45 cm model you have there, well done :youbeauty

Cheers

Nice work there mate.  Seems there are a lot of those stretches that were all over-grown and now are stripped bare.  I have been wanting to get there for a while but my Bro keeps telling me "Nah its up too high mate" and I sigh with annoyance.

That first pic I know well and if I remember correctly there were heaps of vines and stuff making it a bit of a chicane through there.  If that is the place, I got a 42cm right on the corner ;)

Cheers mate and thanks because now I'm itchy !!!!!!!   8)

Thanks all,

Yep, no complaints here, I was thinking I was going to have a donut trip there for a while. The spots that I thought would produced have ben stripped bare, but still look good with some structure still in place.

Sel and Toni, I hope you have a great weekend regardless of the weather. Looking forward to reading your reports early next week from the time you spent on the water.
