Title: Family fishing lakes these school holidays (Vic)
Post by: Slates on May 26, 2013, 10:53:42 PM
A couple of times a year, just before school holidays, Fisheries Victoria release a coupe of hundred "advanced yearling" (about 2-300g or 30cm) rainbow trout into designated "Family Fishing Lakes". The lakes are chosen by their accessibility and close location to population centers.

This is good news to any parent with nagging kids these school holidays (starting 27th June). I've had a couple of goes over the years this program has been running and seen a few kids land a few fish. If you're up for it, grab yourself some garden worms, artificial bait (like Berkley Powerbait) or sweet corn kernels. Running sinker rig or simple float setup and you're in with a chance.

Cheers, NS
