Title: Duckpond revisited
Post by: Paul Dolan on August 12, 2013, 09:41:44 AM
Had a good session up at the Duckpong aka Lake Gregory, and once again the Husky Jerks worked erratically around the lily's and weed stands  produced the most bites, but the humble spinnerbait got the biggest fish and my PB Bass to date.

The Ecooda Live Shrimp I've been using with great success  in the Salt is proving just as effective in the fresh on  Bass and will no doubt produce plenty of Barra, they can be fished in places that conventional lure can't go.

Mainly went up to do some research for areas for topwater fly and lures in the first month or so of spring the only good thing about winter is the weed dies off and opens some good water to fish,I look for areas that have good weed about 2ft under the surface around patches of lily's and work the channels between them. With the weather warming like it is there should be some great topwater action the be had before the weed grows back and smothers all the good water again.

Only found one school in the deeper water in one of my usual spots and they were small, got a few on blades but left them alone to grow bigger, so the bigger fish may have started to move back to the edges and from the results I had around the edges it may be the case.

Thanks for the report PD, great pics.  :thumbsup The Duck Pond is an awesome little lake, used to hit it every other night when I was staying in Bundaberg doing maritime college.

Mate I'm wondering what the track in off Voss Rd is like these days? Do you need a 4x4 to launch?

Fitz, Voss rd is pretty corrugated but ok and the ramp is much the same as it has been for the past 10 years or so but I wouldn't like to do it without a 4Be with my poly[they are pretty heavy boats but great boats  ;D but a lighter tinny would be ok with a standard car, great lil fishery it is
