Hints and Tips / Step by step instructional video on the basics of bream fishing with bait
« Last post by Member on July 08, 2019, 11:04:56 AM »
Iím just sharing a step by step instructional video I created on the basics of bream fishing. Video can be seen here  I think many will find this helpful. In this instance, we are using live scrub worms to catch bream. We guide you through tackle and gear selection, rig setup, bait presentation then me and my kids catch a few bream on the Maribyrnong River. Itís a great video for beginners, or those looking for a few tips or those looking to take their kids fishing, especially during the school holidays.
This same guide can be used for all different types of fish species such as trout, redfin, carp, bream, mullet, bass, perch, whiting and much more. Itís very simple and very effective all you need is a rod, reel, line, ball sinker, swivel, and hook and your all set.
Make sure you sub the channel if you enjoy the video

General Discussion / I lost a big trout today - Footage captured
« Last post by Member on June 03, 2019, 03:11:07 PM »
Video footage can be seen here -

I bet everyone has a cool story they can share about a good fish that they have recently lost. I just missed out on catching a very large trout today which I managed to capture on my GoPro. I cast my metal lure out and a few seconds later the trout hit it really hard. I battled it for a few minutes, with some intense moments as the trout continually leapt out of the water and then it finally spat the hook only meters away from me.

I landed one about the same size last year which managed to get me on the cover of a fishing mag, Clearly, I was shattered. That feeling when you lose a big fish, and how you relive those last moments over and over in your head, and what you could have done differently.

Again, I bet many here have great stories they can share.

Fishing Reports / Re: Lake Wivenhoe Bass & Golden Perch are firing

Thanks Damo, Iíve heard the catties slow down a bit - hereís hoping. The kids love it though, plenty of action!! Itís a bit different to hitting a river bank with some shrimp and a bobbing rod having to sound out a wide body of water looking for fish. The fun is in the chase they reckon.

Daryl, you just have to wait for the water temperature to cool down a bit more yet. Catties will slow right up, and the bass and yellows will be plentiful.

Hey Sweetwater,
If you donít mind me asking have you been launching from Loganís or Billies Bay.  I launched from Loganís this arvo and headed northerly towards Somerset but only found big catties. They ate everything from lures to blades to ice jigs!! Any tips would be great. Cheers, Daryl
