Weather Warnings - Flood Warning - Murray River upstream of Hume Weir
Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology
Victoria

This flood warning covers both the Victorian and New South Wales
parts of the Murray River catchment upstream of Lake Hume.

Minor Flood Warning for the Murray River upstream of Lake Hume
Issued at 4:56 pm EDT on Monday 15 November 2010
by the Bureau of Meteorology, Victorian Regional Office

During the weekend, rainfall totals of 30 to 90 mm were recorded in the Upper
Murray catchment. No significant rainfall has been forecast for overnight
Monday into Tuesday.

Weekend rainfall caused stream rises and minor flooding in the Upper Murray
catchment. Upstream sites are now receding, however further rises are expected
in the lower parts of the Upper Murray catchment with minor flooding expected
around Jingellic during Tuesday.

Upstream of Jingellic
Snowy Hydro advise that releases from Khancoban Storage are at 112 m3/s (Minor
Flood Level 113 m3/s) and are expected to remain at this rate overnight Monday
into Tuesday.

The Murray River at Biggara peaked at 1.95 metres (Minor Flood Level 2.0
metres) late Sunday evening. The river is currently at 1.58 metres and falling.
High stream levels are expected to continue around and downstream of Biggara
overnight Monday into Tuesday.

The Murray River at Bringenbrong peaked at 3.41 metres (Moderate Flood Level
3.4 metres) late Sunday evening. The river is currently at 2.83 metres (Minor
Flood Level 3.0 metres) and falling. High stream levels are expected to
continue around and downstream of Bringenbrong overnight Monday into Tuesday.

Jingellic
The Murray River at Jingellic is currently at 3.23 metres (Minor Flood Level
4.0 metres) and rising slowly. The river is expected to exceed the minor flood
level during Tuesday. Initial indications are that a peak above the minor flood
level is likely late Tuesday into Wednesday.
