Bit far from me!
Always good to see an increase in stocking areas.

Will they give grants for stocking at each location? or will the one grant have to be spread over all three?

I have not been to Berrys Lagoon , but out of Churchbank Weir and O'reillys Weir , O'reillys Weir has more structure and more baitfish(IMO). Now if only some cod were available  ::)

Cheers,
Dave.

Is this a new stocking group or just extended area for an existing group?
 Cheers

From the RFEP currently can only get a maximum of $5k for all locations (combined) by the group, no matter how many different waterways are managed/stocked...have discussed this concern with DEEDI staff, as with this policy there is no incentive for groups merge or take on new areas. There has been general discussions over the past decade or more to have "whole of catchment" based approach to fish management, a cap on support funding will be an issue that will create a bottleneck to the process. So that's a maximum of $5k in DEEDI support for Atkinsons Dam, Lockyer Creek, Warrill Creek, Bremer River & Haig Street Quarry. We could rightly apply to put Atkinsons Dam on the SIP, but I don't think Akky Dam is a mature enough fishery.
Anyhow, it is what is it & we will get on with the job with the resources available. It's not as if we don't have other funding sources, corporate sponsors etc

As discussed with you on the dog n bone, the process was quite easy to have a management plan for these done. Ask & Ye shall recieve....  :thumb  ;)

Cheers,

fitz..

G'Day Ray,

These are new waters being added to management plan of Somerset & Wivenhoe Fish Stocking Assn

If/when done that will mean waters managed by S&WFSA will be:
Lake Somerset (& Stanley River upstream towards Woodford)
Lake Wivenhoe (& upstream into Brsibane River)
Atkinsons Dam
Lockyer Creek (upstream of O'Rielly's Weir)
Bremer River (upstream of Berry's Lagoon Weir)
Warrill Creek (upstream of Churchbank Weir)
Haig Street Quarry
And some Ipswich City Council owned waters

IMHO, next step, get Swanbank Lake back on track.

Cheers,

fitz..

there are a few days that I can not do but interested.

Membership is free mate.  :thumbsup

Meetings are 3rd Wednesday of each month at Fernvale Futures Complex, 7:00pm for a 7:30pm start. Soveral members sometimes have dinner/drinks at BV Tavern up the street before hand (6:30ish).

I recon if there's enough interest in any one location, there could be sub-committees formed to focus on any or all locations. Would only need to ask the group; democratically decided upon.  :thumbsup

Cheers,

fitz..

If you going to do that it only costs another $120 to setup a new association, with same management structure, would double your potential funding!

Fair call Binder, definately considered that. However it adds double ups that are preferably avoided.... bank accounts, paperwork, meetings, audits etc and adds to further fragmentation of fish management groups when there is a need to bring everyone closer. I'm hoping DEEDI will see the advantage of removing the cap by group & look at individual water program on it's own merits & support accordingly. eg Ewen Maddock Dam & Baroon Pocket Dam group will get no further DEEDI support if they were to start a program on the upper Mooloolah River (above barrier) when it would be good to see fish being restocked up there.

Cheers,

fitz..

Yeah it would, I'd do it except I reckon they would just change the rules again!
