Cania
« on: September 17, 2012, 08:04:36 PM »
Thought I would do a quick post from Cania, out here for the week with my daughter.

Weather has been magic nice cool nights for the camp fire and warm days out on the water.

Trev got 22 bass on Friday, averaging high 30 to low 40cm mark.  I found a school of smaller fish and got 5 bass and one spangled perch.

Saturday was a bit slower, my daughter got a couple of smaller fish and I got a 43cm bass and a smaller bass, and Trev got a couple.

Sunday afternoon was glorious on the water, but the bass didnít want to play,  so times were best spent sampling Canadian Clubs and toasting marshmallows.

Today was overcast at the caravan park, but once we got to the dam the sun was out and got 3 bass in 2 hours. 38, 39 and 43cm.

Techniques ranged from jigging small blades to casting TD60 and spinner baits to the edges.  The bigger fish are holding close to timber on the edges.

Couple of happy snaps to enjoy

Thanks for the report.  :thanks

I used to hit Cania at least 4 or 6 times a year once to do some fly flinging, then the snub nosed gar were introduced and I lost interest in the place, kind of ruined it for me.

Did you get any Saratoga Earl?

Well done Earl, great to see you sharing some quality time with your daughter on the water.

Some nice fish caught too; I visited the place for the first time earlier this year and it's a shame it's not closer as I really enjoyed fishing the lake.

Trev, your a legend! Bring back the bucket hat........

I'm also interested to see if you caught or saw any Toga :youbeauty

Unfortunately havenít seen any toga or bass surface feeding, thatís because we are normally back at camp around sunset.  Manager another 3 smaller bass (just over 30cm), 2 small spangled perch and a larger silver perch.

Took Peter from neighbouring caravan out as he hadnít caught anything since heís been here and he got his first Cania bass.  Peter's got one of those things you guys like paddling, so itís a fair paddle to the spots we've been fishing

Be finding good schools of fish midway up the dam, getting them to play has been the challenge.

The fish didnít warrant getting the camera out, but here's a few other photos from yesterday's walk and this morningís breakfast visitors.

Managed to nab a couple of QUICK photos at full zoom and fully automatic of a couple of red belly black snakes frolicking in the grass before I made a hasty retreat.  Not the best pictures I have ever taken, but self-preservation seemed more important than a great photo
