Harpeng Rd session tomorrow
« on: November 04, 2012, 04:16:12 PM »
Going to head out to Harpeng Rd tomorrow. Went last Sunday for the first time.  Had a lot of fun!  Will be an arvo session.  Going to try some new tricks and see if I can bring in a 50cm+.  My best went 42cm, but my brother pulled in a 53cm thumper.   Am new to the forum, so if any other sweetwater fishos are heading out, be great to say hello.  :)

I was down there last Sunday also, we pulled in 19 Bass, and 1 yella, ranging from 15cm- 50cm, definitely a good spot! I would be out there tomorrow, but unfortunately work stands in my way..

Were you the group of three paddling around?  My brother and I caught 9 Bass from 22cm - 52cm. I also got an eel tailed catty and hooked up to a mega sized lung fish.  Took me for a bit of a ride, but thankfully threw the lure. My weekend is Sun/Mon so definitely looking forward to the trip out again! Maybe see you out there next time.

Go have a look and check it out then...............

There's nothing special about Harpeng Rd (Hollywood) or that psrticular section of river. It had alot of press after the floods with alot of fish in that section, but the fish are spread out through the system now. There's as many fish at other places to be caught. It's really only the out of towners that don't know the rest of the river who hit Hollywood now..... Some locals who actually spend time learning about the rest of that river get some pretty good fish elsewhere.  ;)

If you go to Hollywood, you can't go downstream to the Lowood Pump Hole due to the log jam, if you think about trying to paddle thru it, DON'T.
Go as far upstream as you like on that section until you hit the No Fishing Zone below the dam wall. Be sure to smile for the cameras.  ;D

Happy paddling.

Yak fish, you should give it a go. I only started fishing for bass about 6 weeks ago, and I'm not the best fisherman in the world, but I'm learning and having a great time doing so.  I've been there twice and it's been fun, as well as challenging. Watching my brother catch a 52cm bass was awesome! If the weather is good, I'll most likely be out there again this Sunday!  :)

Went out again today and caught 7 fish ranging in size from 27cm - 43cm. Caught 4 very early morning and the other three around lunchtime just before heading home.  My brother caught two around the 40cm mark, early on as well. Fishing was still a bit slow and used a variety of lures to get the fish. Still, was my best session yet, but put in a lot of hours to get em. Been fishing 5 days out of the last seven!  Think I need a holiday!  ;D

Not at all.  :) Not sure when it will be as I've got something on next weekend and maybe the weekend after.   ...but will give you a heads up when going out there next.  :thumbsup
