Warwick Region Fishing Report 28 January 2014

LESLIE DAM: Leslie continues to fish quite well.  There were a few nice fish landed at Leslie Dam in the earlier part of the weekend.  They were caught near the boat ramps on saltwater yabbies.  Anglers have reported of some nice fish landed in the main basin, just south of the dam wall, on live shrimps.  Anglers also reported on some huge Catfish being caught, measuring up to 55cm in length, on worms.  Lure anglers reported things being a little slower with the wind causing a few problems.  There were a few nice fish landed early Sunday morning on trolled hard body lures, while some other anglers had success on JMH Spinnebaits while fishing the rock structure towards the top end of the dam.

CONNOLLY DAM: Connolly Dam is fishing reasonably well with anglers reporting of some nice fish on the move.  There were a few nice Golden Perch landed from kayaks, mainly trolling lures.

MOOGERAH DAM / MAROON DAM: Moogerah is fishing ok with the odd fish being landed in the timber up towards the back of the dam on live shrimps.  Lure anglers had some success on blades and small lures while fishing the edges to the west of the day ramp.

RIVERS/CREEKS:  The Condamine River in the town area has been fish very well due to the slight increase in water level.  One local angler managed to land some lovely Golden Perch trolling lures between the two weirs.  TN60 Jackalls worked extremely well with the angler bagging 15 Golden Perch and 2 small Murray Cod.
Anglers also had success near Cherabah with some quality Golden Perch and small Murray Cod being landed on spinnerbaits and hard body lures.

GLEN LYON DAM: There have been some quality Golden Perch landed at Glen Lyon Dam while casting hard body lures into the banks and rocks.  There was also a legal size Murray Cod landed while trolling a Jaz Aussie 200.
