Title: Clear water bass
Post by: bushwacker on January 02, 2011, 06:57:40 PM
G'day all hope everyone is still alive and well after the floods, christmass and new years.

The water has just run clean and i could feel the pull of nature to go for a good fishing session at a small creek i unfortunatly cant tell you where ... secret you see, although the size of bass isnt very large but the numbers more than enough make up for it.

With the day feeling well and truely like summer and the hummidity making it even hard to breath, these bass where very hungry after all that rushinbg water and very willing to take any lure we threw at them.

After we arrived at the first hole i decided to put on a Heddon "Tiny torpeedo" surface lure to see if i couldnt get some splashing action fun, 3 casts seen my wishes granted with a sub 30 bass smashing it after a pause and twitch and another hit 2 casts later that was dropped. 15 minutes had passed without another surface hit so decided to change to a diving "Atomic Hardz" chubby in clear and purple putting casts tight into snags was a must as the sun was high at 11am. After an hour we decided to give this spot a rest for the day managing 5 bass out of this spot isnt too bad compared to previous fishing sessions.

After driving a few minutes to the next strech of creek on private land my brother and i proceeded to cast tight to snags at an old swimming hole with a few bumps on the first cast we new we where onto something. Half an hr spent at this hole saw us landing 4 small bass under 30cm mark again but all good fun especially when they where jumping on the lure right at feet !

A short walk up past some rapids found us at the next hole that produced no fish but walking and casting between trees we soon found another spot that was the same as the swimming hole with keen as mustard bass smashing our divers only a meter or so off the bank all within visibilty, remembering the water is very clear! Finally i cracked what id say was the 30cm mark for the day on the 14th bass and that was the finally tally for the day.

On the way back to the car walking along the creek my brother asked where i had lost a lure in a snag and was eager to go for a swim as it was that bloody hot and humid, as he swam across and got that one i was casting nearby and got another one snagged as i must have been getting tired. My brother exlaims "If i can get that one im keeping it!" fair enough he did and was rewarded with an "Atomic hard deep shad" but the pink "Pack rat" was all he needed for the day.

After walking back to the car we where very thankfull i had packed plenty of water and so should everyone else with summer really starting to fire up! Hope some of you guys are having some good sessions with some of the water finally clearing up  :thumbsup

Have a good one

Steve.

Nice report Steve, note by the colour of the lure retriever that the sun has been away for a while over there ;D
