Lake Maroon
« on: March 17, 2013, 04:17:04 PM »
I'm thinking going to Lake Maroon for a couple of days this coming week and because I've never been there, I  would undoubtedly benefit from some input from anyone on the forum. I'll probably stay at the caravan park.
Cheers,
JD

Going off two weeks ago metery's galore according to a mate, - below the dam wall........

Nothing but just legals above the wall, and then few and far between.

Meterys galore  ???

JD Maroon can be hit or miss but mid week is always best there.

Just fish the edges look for shade and you will find fish, When im feeling lazy i will paddle along the weed beds about 10 meters off and troll a lure orange to red and black and grean and yellow seem to be what catches fish there.

If fishing early get out your surface lures and bash them into tight spots in amongst lillys and if you get bored give me a yell ill come harras you  ;D

Meter fish at Maroon Dam? Maroon dam near Rathdownie / Boonah? Below the wall? Are we talking meter eels?

You don't mean Monduran by chance?

You'd need to join 4 Maroon fish together to get a metre.

Lake camp fart is around the back of the dam but no matter what end you go you will usually run into people.

They usually also have a morning yabby pot run at about 5:30 - 6am that hoons around the edges ruining the serinity for paddlers and fisho's.....

If you feel like a long drive home head over to white and check out Queen mary falls then the condamine down in kilarny

Or go south through white swamp and head back east from there.

Some nice creeks in those areas mate

Lake Fiddle is chock a block this week with school kids. A great place to avoid. I'll be down along the water somewhere Thursday arvo to Friday. Hopefully the ruffians won't show up 'till after I've gone. I have a short fuse and zero tolerance for hoons. Was going to call my boat "Anger Management" but my wife talked me out of it. I'll have a look at the Condamine another time though Bushie.
