Post by: Editor on January 26, 2015, 08:29:25 PM
Moorabool Reservoir closed to fishing
22/1/15 - Central Highland Water

Central Highlands Water has closed Moorabool Reservoir to fishing due to the presence of blue-green algae.

The public are requested to obey the signs erected by us at all water access points.

Fishermen and recreational visitors are advised not to enter the reservoir and avoid the following:
• drinking the water directly from the reservoir
• contact with the water (swimming, wading etc.)
• fishing
• allowing pets and livestock to make contact with the water

Blue-green algae are a naturally occurring phenomenon that occurs during the warmer months.

Central Highlands Water will continue to monitor the reservoir’s water quality and advise when it re-opens to the public.
