Boat launch spots Clear Island Waters.
« on: April 22, 2013, 06:41:16 AM »
Are there any public ramps or launch spots at CIW and Robina where you can launch a tinny using a conventional car?
At presen I con a mate with a fourby to launch at the dog walking park at CIW.
Just reverse trailer down rock wall its a bit steep but the worry is the soft mud at bottom of wall and my little i30 cannot pop the wheels out of the mud.
Pm if you do not want to give away your secret spot.
 Cheers
Ray

Who knows Dale, but is a common method down there, due to no available public ramps for boats

Anyone know the ramifications of driving through a public park on the Gold Coast?

Where does everyone launch Tony?

Dale a few go through locked council gates as I used to till the council police knocked on my door and demanded key back.
Someone robbed me in and they had my car rego and boat rego.

There is a couple of areas around the system that people use but not legally.
As all the other spots did get used and lots of traffic it is only a matter of time before they
put wood posts and a gate like elsewhere to stop legal a ruin against them if someone gets hurt or bogged or whatever.

Dale on the driving  through the park bit, we as a stocking club have to give written notice to council and a $600 bond if we use the ramps behind locked gates to cover any damage we may cause to the public grassed area.

When we do a tagging data day.

Cheers tony

Used to be a lot of ramps on various lakes on the gold coast that you could launch a boat from. Council has locked most of them.
Hundreds of places in dozens of lakes you can launch a yak though.

And the response.

Ray,

Your email below has been forwarded to me for a response.

There are no public boat ramps available to directly access the Clear Island Waters Lakes, only Council maintenance access ramps which are not to be used by the general public.

Boat and trailer access through the dog park is not permissible.

Boat access to the Clear Island Waters Lakes can be obtained from the Carrara Road, Carrara public boat ramp, down the Nerang River and through to the Boobegan Creek lock.

A key is required to open the lock which can be obtained from Council for a fee (which includes a refundable deposit) providing access for a day, a week or longer period.

I trust the above is of assistance and if you have any queries regarding the above please contact me on the number below.

I have also rung and confirmed that it is only trailer launched boats that they have a problem with due to possible damage and erosion of the bank.
Car toppers and yaks are quite oki.
 Cheers
Ray
