Backward Hooks
« on: October 18, 2010, 04:02:00 PM »
Any seen the hooks in the picture at all.  I recently got a ripper of a deal on this dog-x-jnr and found it came with this funny treble on the front.  The barbs are on the other side ??

Is this some sort of marketing thing or something.

Cheers

Geoff

Place I sometimes buy my hooks from in the states carries them. I reckon on the inside they work, so why change! Im also  not to sure about why they would put them on the outside, I would have thought it would be easier to toss the hook.

VMC barbarians they are (the ones for sale I was talking about) - view here.

Yeah a gimmick I reckon

Sometimes things like this take off and for no reason so I guess its worth a try.  I don't think I will go outta my way to get them but will see how this one goes anyway.  I don't mind VMC hooks, they are ok.  I have had issues with Owner hooks as they don't handle very much fatigue and break often.

Cheers

Hi,

Found these hooks which are made by Duel.  @ $5.50+ a pack + postage from the USA I guess the strong AUD makes it reasonable if they made a distinct difference to hook up rates etc.  Not sure if this helps.

Regards
Colin

No doubt they work, I think having the barb on the outside would just make it easier for the hook to catch me though

Cheers
