We went out to hamon cove today fishing and kayaking , on the way back from rocky cliffs to boat ramp seen a huge cod come up to surface right infornt of me , we had BBQ and fished again in afternoon , nice relaxing day and got catfish on lure , still chasing those big perch , next time .
Cheers Joseph.

Probably a Queensland Lungfish.  They often surface in Wivenhoe.

I think cod because looked like greeny colour snake pattern and was very fat seen side belly then tail swoosh as it went under , had green orgee out left side and purple preditek out right side anticipated a big hit but nothing haha , just running 10/10 lb on spinning reel and 20/30lb on bait caster .
Cheers joseph

I Agree with Aussiebasser, It most likely would have been a Lungfish they are always on the surface in Wivenhoe.
You have the right lures just need to work them on the drop offs to the old river,
The catfish should slow down soon with the cooler weather it will give the yellows a chance to take them.
