A little further upstream from Commissioners flat bridge ( only a km or 2 )  , there's a side road that crosses the Stanley . Ferris Lane. Nice spot where you could park the car on the opposite side of the bridge .

If you keep driving up Commissioner's flat rd , eventually you will get to Peachester . Here on the Woodford-Beerwah rd there is a bridge crossing just out of town on the Woodford side.

I couldn't find any other decent crossings further up. I drove up Bald Knob rd , that goes through Crohamhurst to the Landsborough-Maleny rd . Nice lookout there , where you can see Ewan Maddock .

Downstream from Commissioner's flat , the next bridge crossing I could find was on Cove rd . Heavy vine thicket /rainforest like canopy over the river here. The google map of the area can be found here

David, that is an absolutely awesome guide to accessing the Stanley River. Thankyou & well done.

If I can tie in with a map I'd previously done with markers on it, I've added a couple of the pics you posted.

View Somerset Dam & Stanley River in a larger map
From the headwaters of the Stanley to the top of the Mary is only about 12km. You could have gone exploring the Mary up from Conondale. Again some pretty water, probably better water than the Stanley for kayaking.

Also to add to your pictorial report, I'll throw in this video of what the Stanley River looks like when there's a flow over the weir.

And Kilcoy Creek in flow

Thanks Dave for compiling such a great report together and Fitzy for adding the map and video's. These areas have been on my to do list for quite some time.

I suppose Bass and Yella's would be resident fish in these rivers, creeks and tributaries?

Cheers Dave

Caboolture Fish Stocking group puts Yella's, Mary Cod and Bass in there.

Most blokes I know who do well in there fish it on foot.

And Somerset Wivenhoe FSA put bass, goldens, MRC, silvers & saras into the Upper reaches of Somerset / Mid-Stanley River downstream of the weir.

Cheers,

fitz..

i am new on here and this is my first post,

u have done well logging the areas u have,

as for further upstream there are still many more crossings and dozens of proven fish holding waterholes if u know where to look. if someone wanted to come along i can show a number of holes that could be logged as u have done above, maybe a senior member or site admin can pm/email me and we can organize something :thumbsup (local knowledge is always better than searching blindly)

growing up on the stanley gives u an advantage lol

Hey Redline,

Welcome to the site, you'll find us a pretty friendly bunch.

I'd be more than happy to tag along and tag a few more spots. I really enjoy the sport of creek fishing. More than happy to share locations, expanding everyones fishing possibilities.

I have some time off in the next couple of weeks, so if your keen just let me know.

Cheers Dave
