Title: 8 year old has started his first lure
Post by: wesfish on October 28, 2013, 09:21:18 PM
My son bailey has been keen to make a lure for a while now , on the weekend when visiting his grandad he asked if he could teach him. I know I should teach him but I learnt from dad and now was baileys turn to learn from the old fella and build some great memories for us all.  After a quick safety run down bailey was away on the sander shaping what will be his first of many lures.
I have taken a few pics and next weekend I will post the finished product, he has it all wired up and bib glued. His shaping skills amazed both the old man and myself.

Great stuff Bailey.  :Clap) Learn from the old fellas & then try your own ideas.

Look forward to seeing some as your skills grow.

Teach him young, good bonding time with Grandad too.
These pics show something I truly love about our country.  Telstra have a special coloured rope so nobody steals it.  Every shed in Australia and every trailer you see at the dump has some blue and yellow rope on or in it, and nobody cares.

haha I thought it was a special crab pot rope. Most of the cable contractors leave it on site after one use, they say its easier next job to start with a fresh roll lol

Telstra rules are to only use it once.  It is too expensive if the rope breaks and you have a cable half way through.  They are supposed to dispose of it though.  I love Australia!

That's a great looking lure Bailey.  That one should be hung on the wall, it'll be worth big money one day.

Cheers  , only problem is he does not want to use the first one. have to sit down with him so he can make a heap up for fishing use  :)) He has an impressive fish list all ready on other lures and bait fishing. Mangrove Jack, bull sharks , trevs , tarpon ( he loves tarpon fishing ) Flathead , snapper ,bream , whiting , cod , yellas , big bass and missed his chance with his first toga over xmas. he will flick lures all day long if I let him  :)

Just saw this post and good on the young fella  :)

Good on his dad and grandad too for supporting him and giving him the opportunity to make his first lures.
Should be more of it  :)

He has a good eye for colour too !

Barney.
