Title: Wivenhoe Access Times
Post by: Lure-Nut on May 04, 2015, 07:18:03 PM
This is probably an easy question for those in the know, but I'll ask it anyway  ;D

I'm wanting to troll Wivenhoe Dam at night, primarily full moon, but the gates are locked from 6pm to 6am - does that mean I'm not allowed on the dam during those hours or am I allowed to stay out on the water once I'm locked in at 6pm or just camping :?)

Cheers

Rob

Sorry Rob, you can't have your boat on the lake after hours.  Even if you are camping there you must take the boat out of the water.

Same for all SEQ water sites, no go after 6pm.

I usually wait for June, the full moon in June on dusk is not a bad time to fish, as it gets dark not much after 5, you have an hour window. Wont last long though as the review they will release one day, is supposed to change opening times to dawn to dusk, so they will mean a 5pm close in June!

Somerset, you can theoretically stay out overnight if you keep above the Villeneuve bridge, as that is the extend of SEQ Water's control. Not a lot of water there though, I wouldn't bother.

Just got my sip permit . Looking at doing some lure fishing in kayak . I think its good in winter because from 5 - 6 pm its low light conditions. And you don't get that chance in summer . I nominated wivenhoe for my funds to go towards fish restocking .
Cheers Joseph.
