Wivenhoe's cork in the wall
« on: January 18, 2011, 04:23:27 PM »
Over the last week  , I have been marooned on the same side of the river as the access to the wall at Wivenhoe . The auxillary spillway ( saddle dam , whatever ) has been facinating to me . Here's a few pics from Monday the 10 th through to Tuesday the 18 of January .  Its a clear indication of how close Wivy came to causing complete devastation .

Cheers,
Dave.

I'd be interested to know if SEQ water has control over when this thing goes...Like is there a button they can push to set it free or when it hits the tops of the stones it falls away...

Cheers

there was a seminar at the Big Dubba yak event that people could go to the info centre.

Sad to see so many not going. I did and it was very interesting. The simulations were very interesting.

No button, just designed to break away.

That was a bit disappointing, but I guess a bit too much in the program for many. Will be taking that on board & the info centre seminars wont be part of the program again in the future. Lesson learned....  :-\  can't win 'em all hey?

fitz..

Great shots Dave.  It's a pity we'll never see the level that it reached at 2.00am on 13/11.
