« on: January 23, 2012, 04:50:44 PM »

I live localy in Ipswich and fish nilly every morning down stream from the old mount crosby weir were getting a few bass a day on the surface and on vibes but the last couple of days havent had any luck? has anyone had the same problem? and if there still on what lures/spinners are you using. Also want to now the best place to put a conoe in the upper brisbane river  or lockyer creek? Also has anyone done any good in the lockyer creek? would also like to no some other good bass spots i never keep them and get them back in the water asap.
Cheers THE BASS MAN

Heart attack Hill ( see Brisbane River reports ) is still producing . Some days are better than others .

As for Lockyer Creek ,
from the junction of the Brisbane to O'reilys Weir, stacked with Forkies and Tilapia.
in the plunge pool below the weir , bass at dusk and at night on surface lures.
upstream of the weir , the fish are too well fed on the available baitfish ,(unbelievable amounts of bonys up in there) . Awesome structure/habitat for predator fish in the top half of the weir and up past Pointings bridge though , pitty no cod are available for stocking this season .

Cheers,
Dave.

Hi dave,
went to heart attack hill on saturday morning and only got one 47cm and got smashed by somthing that blew me off straight away herd heaps of good things about it was a bit sad to only get one  :(. dont think i will be back there pulling a canadian conoe up that hill was not a fun thing to do. Was a very nice place looks like it would have a heap of big bass and cod in there. Is there another place to launch a conoe in there?
Cheers Andrew

Yeah , little yaks are the go for that spot.

I too fished there late on Saturday, only got 3 bass in an hour and a half. My wife got a 50something yella . The increased water outflow from the dam was having a detrimental effect I presume , usually get into double figures on the bass for the same amount of time .

Cheers,
Dave.

Another option is to try the Bremer River , from Brassall upstream . I was at a party on Saturday night , and a guy there was crowing how he caught a Bass on a piece of steak from under the Trumpy bridge !!

Have heard the same about the Bremer River producing some XOS bass in the tidal reaches.

There's a map kicking around here of all access points to the Brisbane River, a bit of searching will find it.

Cheers,

fitz..

Thanks for the help guys will give the bremer a go on the weekend and let you know how i go. I think the water going up in the river has shut the fish down as they seem to be off the bite every were.
