Marking of freshwater traps from 1 February

Marking of freshwater traps from 1 February

Fisheries Queensland would like to remind fishers to correctly mark their traps.

Following concerns raised about the potential risk to non-target species from lost or abandoned freshwater traps, all freshwater traps from 1 February 2015 must be marked with solid light coloured float that is at least 15cm in any dimension.

Traps attached to something above the water such as trees or other structures do not require a float.

However, anyone who uses a trap for freshwater fishing must place a tag on the trap showing the owner’s surname and address.

For more information on fishing gear requirements, visit www.fisheries.qld.gov.au, call 13 25 23 or download the free ‘Qld Fishing’ app from Apple and Google app stores.

Follow Fisheries Queensland on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@FisheriesQld).

Ray,

In large organizations, IT departments work by their own schedules. A law unto themselves.

Their IT weenies are probably still on Xmas holidays. Patience grasshopper.
