Fishers invited to industry meetings

The Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol (QBFP) has announced fisheries compliance meeting dates across Queensland for the next twelve months.

QBFP Manager Ian Fricke said fishers are encouraged to attend to discuss compliance issues to ensure the patrol’s efforts are targeted to better protect Queensland’s fisheries.

“Commercial, recreational and traditional fishers are invited to participate in their local industry meeting,” Mr Fricke said.

“We need input from fishers to ensure we are across all the issues that are having an impact to their fishing including those relating to compliance and fishing practices.

“QBFP aims to protect Queensland’s fisheries and with stakeholder input we can prioritise where to provide our assistance.”

All fishers are encouraged to call the contact number to confirm meeting times and venue.

For more information on commercial and recreational fishing in Queensland, visit www.fisheries.qld.gov.au or call 13 25 23.

Unfortunately, once again, very restricted areas covered.  For Ipswich people the closest meetings are Warwick or Redlands.  Strange that Wivenhoe and Somerset are the most fished lakes in the state, but no meetings are to be held in the immediate area.
