Big Horse Creek boat ramp open for fishing action

The Amateur Fishermen’s Association of the Norther Territory (AFANT) has welcomed the improvements to the Big Horse Creek boat ramp on the Victoria River.

“The ramp has been closed for the much needed upgrade but with the works completed ahead of schedule, the ramp has reopened allowing recreational fishers to get out on the water targeting the big silver barramundi the Victoria River is renowned for” said AFANT president Warren de With today.

“The works were designed to address some washouts at the ramp to make it safer for launching and retrieving boats at Big Horse Creek which is the main launching facility on the Victoria River.

Having quality and safe infrastructure for boat launching and retrieving is essential to enable access to key recreational fishing spots like the Victoria River, AFANT is active in talking and working with government to ensure that access at other important sites is improved.

I am sure AFANT members who fish the Victoria River will welcome the important upgrade” said AFANT president Warren de With.
