Title: St Lawrence Creek
Post by: Sweetwater on May 20, 2011, 09:36:42 PM
St Lawrence Creek.

There's a weir just west of the Bruce Highway that is public access. This creek almost empties out on the low tides but the bigger tides the water pushes right up to the weir.

Barra are caught here by those in the know; timing is critical.... I've not fished the top side of the weir. While fish could get up & over the weir in floods, I'm not aware of any fish being stocked upstream.

Well worth stopping in on a drive north. Also check out Clairview Creek not far to the north....  ;)

Be advised. This is croc coutry.

Thanks Fitzy

Do you reckon there would be Toga or Sooties in the fresh water reaches of these creeks?
Nice looking spot.

Cheers
Adrian

no yoga or sooties but barra, jacks etc would be. The barrier on St Lawrence creek restricts greatly what gets up though.

Thanks Darren.  :youbeauty

I saw some pics of the weir on St Lawrence Creek flooded out recently & there were plenty of barra getting caught below the weir, so no doubt the odd one would get up past the barrier.

Cheers,

fitzy..

BTW- there's another creek just north of Clairview Creek called Cattle Creek (from memory), that's worth a stroll along the shore pegging lures as well.  ;)
