SWFSA Inc. milestone

(1/1)

aussiebasser:
With the scheduled release of fingerlings this Saturday at Billies Bay on Lake Wivenhoe, the Somerset and Wivenhoe Fish Stocking Association Inc. will pass the 6 million mark in fingerlings released since they began in 1988.  The total investment has been $1,161.404.00.

If you had asked to me estimate what I thought you had put in over the years I would have thought you blokes would have dropped more than that in

Your the big end of town. You throw fingerlings around by the 100's of thousands while us lesser souls dabble in thousands........

Certainly a good long history of stocking.

Somerset has significantly higher fishing pressure than any other lakes in Qld. Wivenhoe isnt far behind Somerset in fishing pressure.

So Fitz, does Somerset fish better purely because its a smaller dam than Wivenhoe or are there more finglings put in there as more sips are sold for that dam?

Does Somerset fish better than Wivenhoe? I don't think it does.

Somerset has far more fishing pressure for a few reasons:
- Unrestricted boating type & speed.
- Multiple lanes of boat ramps covering more water levels.
- More consistent water levels.
- Loads of tourist park options. Massive tourist park + camp ground at dam wall + SDA Camp Somerset.
- No forkies in Somerset which some anglers limited skill set sees them challenged by the bi-catch in Wivenhoe
