Title: SE Qld Lakes - access update 27 Feb 2015
Post by: Editor on February 28, 2015, 04:08:51 PM
Recreation status of Seqwater lakes as at 3:00pm Friday 27 November 2015
Date: 27/02/2015  - Seqwater

Seqwater is pleased to advise that most of our lakes and recreation areas are open following last week's severe weather event, however activities are restricted at some lakes.

We understand people are keen to get back in the water but visitor safety is our priority. Please see below for the current status of water-based activities at our lakes.
•Lake Atkinson – open (closed to swimming until further notice)
•Lake Baroon – open (closed to swimming until at least next week, awaiting acceptable water quality test results)
•Lake Borumba – open (closed to water skiing until at least next week, awaiting acceptable water quality test results)
•Lake Dyer – open
•Enoggera Reservoir – open (closed to swimming until at least next week, awaiting acceptable water quality test results)
•Ewen Maddock – open (closed to swimming until at least next week, awaiting acceptable water quality test results)
•Hinze Dam – open
•Lake Kurwongbah – open (closed to water skiing until at least next week, awaiting acceptable water quality test results)
•Lake Macdonald – open
•Lake Manchester – closed until further notice (including trails)
•Lake Maroon – open
•Lake Moogerah – open
•Lake Samsonvale – open
•Lake Somerset – open
•Lake Wivenhoe – open
•Lake Wyaralong – open (please be aware of feral animals in the area)

Many of our lakes received significant inflows of water as a result of the severe weather event. Major inflows of rainfall run-off can contain a number of potential hazards for visitors, including microbial contamination, bacteria and debris.

To ensure the health of our visitors, we are undertaking additional detailed water quality testing at all lakes where swimming and/or water skiing are normally permitted – samples of the lake water have been taken and we are waiting on results from the laboratory.

Lakes will be temporarily closed to some activities until we receive appropriate water quality results. Seqwater will re-open lakes as soon as it is appropriate to do so.

Water-based activities are not permitted at Cooloolabin, Gold Creek and Wappa dams, but they are all open to land-based recreation.

Please play it safe when visiting recreation areas - conditions may have changed as a result of the recent weather, and we cannot be everywhere to help you.
