Threadybuster Lures
« on: August 14, 2011, 12:52:36 PM »
Threadybusters are made in Brisbane by Dan Watters of Smoking Drags co.
A cheaper and much stronger locally made alternative to the expensive imported soft vibes.
Developed mainly for Threadfin and Jew in the Brisbane River but very effective for Barra and Bass.
Was using the expensive ones myself in the river for Threadfin and Jew but they tend to come apart under heavy drag settings and dont like the rustwater.
Available at a few tackle shops and online, a google search will give the info.

Disclaimer.
Dan is a mate and fishing buddy of mine. Have received many samples throughout the development of these lures for free.

Cheers,
Steve.

Elops,

The 60mm jobs look amazing!  I am off to source a few of them for the ABT at Somerset next weekend!  Thanks for sharing!  :thanks

The bloke who originally made em was a tosser then he sold them on, I bought some off the second bloke, still got them. Must have changed hands again, coz it wasn.t your mate I got them off.  Look really good now, not using the tuft of fibres for a tail anymore I notice to.. The originals were a bit rough, but did work.

Dan got the gear off the original bloke but changed the moulds and developed them a lot since.
I like the fibre tail ones myself.
Personal comments aside, the original bloke and the crew he fishes with have a string of captures in the river which makes most of the self appointed river experts look pretty pedestrian.

Must of been your mate I got them from then, for some reason I thought his name was Eugene or similar. Ray actually picked them up for me.

Hardly used them, must get out on the river this spring to see if I can put them to good use.

Oh yeah, that original crew have quite a record with fisheries as well. Near killed myself laughing when I heard about their latest indiscretions they got caught for.

I believe Fish Head at Victoria Point carry them.  I haven't seen the little one, but I'll look for it now.

The threadybuster 60 is available from Fishead.  Caught my PB snapper on one on 22 April...

Colour was Ayu head and technique was small hops across the bottom near the reef edge of north Peel Island...

Snapper monstered it on the drop, just on dawn.

Cheers

Pete

Thanks Pete,
I haven't spent as much time as I should have at Fish Head this year.  I'll have to go in for a look.  There are some little FCL Labo lures I need to pick up too.
