Have you ever been educated about restrictions and site specific requirements when purchasing a boating permit for Lakes Somerset or Wivenhoe?
Never, With NPD a requirement of receiving a boating access permit is that you sign a legally binding agreement that you will abide by all rules pertaining to the site and you are given a copy of the rules. Cheers Ray
I thought Somerset was totally unrestricted waters? EG, not even got a speed limit.
But no, when I used to get my permits over the phone there was no education, apart from where the stickers had to be displayed.

--- End quote --- No such thing as "totally unrestricted waters" The only thing it doesn't have is the blanket speed limit. Although the Rangers have been disputing that lately and pulling people over for going too fast. All other boating regulations are in place and SEQWater enforce their own 6.00pm to 6.00am boating curfew.
From about 2005 to 2011 I fished Somerset regularly. I used to buy a weekly boating permit on a Sunday direct from the Ranger on site at the Spit ramp, and use the same permit the next Saturday.
Never once was educated about anything. Did top 118kph in a mates bass boat tho :) Beat my 30hp lol.
