Please help the poor angler
« on: April 01, 2014, 10:09:26 PM »
Hello guys,
i'm living in Brisbane
i love fishing, but i don't have a driving license, nor a car, nor a kayak,
i am sincerely asking
is there any spot that i can reached by public transport for fresh bait/ lure fishing  :'( :'( :'(

I normally fish at the Breakfast Creek, but there are only catfishes and breams,
i am looking for creeks to fishing with lures, but  the big problem is, i don't have a car......

Train it to Ipswich then fish the river near Riverlink.

Yes, there is access to the river on the opposite side to the Shopping Centre, almost under the walk bridge.   You could also walk downstream a bit too.  There is a very good walking track (foot path) along the river.

I've been to there today,
the water is dead, rusty yellow, no fishes at all, but i can see few turtles,
tons of spider nets and spiders and mosquito :-\ .
Can anyone suggest river / creeks that can play lure and it is near public transport?

There are more fish than bream and catfish at Breaky  Creek

It sounds like you need to change your angling style

Mate

The bremer is the G O but as there was a rain event recently all rivers around the place are like coffee, even the Brisbane river near the city. Wait a couple weeks and give it a go. Or train it out to Sandgate and try on the foreshore on a high tide,,, I'd use chicken breast cut into strips, use a number 4 whiting hook, the red ones on a trace about 60cm long, small swivel and then the smallest ball sinker you can use to get distance in your cast.

Let the fish chew on it for a while,, give it some line and when it takes some more line, lift the rod and you will be on...

Thanks ! I didn't even think about the effect of the rain.
I usually use stinky expired prawns, that's why my target fishes are limited,
thanks for sharing  :youbeauty

Knew you had to be mate and probably with a big bloody sinker as well.

The current dirty water is going to take a bit to clear up, but keep playing around the forshores of Breaky creek and the junction to the brissy. Get a jackall or reaction type lure out there and hop it along.  ;) The good old K Mart cheapies do the job mate for a 5'er, hooks and rings will need changing or hop a paddle tails soft platic around.
