Hey Mate,

Thanks for introducing yourself & posting the videos.  :youbeauty Welcome aboard.

I fixed the coding on your videos. For future reference, you only need to grab the URL from the youtube video & drop that into your post, the software will do the rest for you.

eg hxxp://www youtube.comwatch?v=d4R7VjeaupA#ws

Oh and if there is a https delete the "s" from the end or it wont work  :tick

howdy bjm,
not all are land based, i head out with Romen to Googong a fair bit as a ring in, but that footage is fishstrikes (Barry and Romen) so any footage i put up is always going to be land based or in the occasional Hobie.

its not freshwater, but thought i would put this up here too.
Down at victor harbor in south australia with the family and was able to head out and chase bluefin tuna on a pretty sloppy day before leaving. my father in law and myslef ended up getting our first Tunas. great experience and memories. one of the boats out around us as we pulled up had a triple hookup, and somehow with only two people on board managed to get all three of their tuna in!
good times, back to murray cod next week, but what a fight these guys have! memorable stuff!

cheers bushwacker! im all about catch, release & safe handling of Australian natives. Mind you in saying that i usually eat fish maybe three times a year only but when i'm in the salty stuff i don't mind a feed like the xmas tuna vid- still eating and enjoying bluefin!!

Hey Fellas,
Recently i have been getting back into fly fishing, particularly for the local native Murray Cod and Golden Perch. While it has been a long hiatus from fly-fishing for me (nearly 10years) ive found that waving the wand has given me a new challenge to focus on this season 12/13. Ive had some success three cod and three yellas in the last few trips out but usually each trip have been seeing fish if not sight casting to them. sight casting Murray cod has been one of the most intense experiences with the little buggers coming up chasing the fly striking it then disappearing without hooking up, then siting high in the water column waiting to have another go at the fly!! crazy stuff.
getting used to fly casting with the heavy 8-10wt gear has been a different experience- nearly giving myself a few additional piercings through ripping the big cod flys out of the water or having the wind catch them on the back cast and lodge in my backpack or hat. there is a real technical challenge getting the fly out of the water and then back into the water at distance without doing yourself some mischief.

got me thinking, do many of you in Canberra target Murray cod and golden perch on fly? and how have you gone chasing natives in the local area?
i know of at least three or four people who are actively chasing natives on fly and was interested to see if there are many more people out there who can share their native fly fishing hints and tricks!

heres a few of the ones i have got since getting the setup in late December,
